Kansas City Monarchs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Southpaw Devin Anderson pitched six innings of shutout baseball as the Kansas City T-Bones began their six-game road trip with an 8-0 shutout of the Grand Prairie AirHogs at QuikTrip Park on Thursday night.

The lefty from Winter Garden, Fla., Anderson worked out of a first-and-third, one-out jam in the first inning and was nearly unhittable afterwards. At one point, he retired eight consecutive AirHogs between the second and fourth innings. Meanwhile, as Anderson was dominating on the hill, the T-Bones' bats started to heat up as well.

Kansas City batters hit two triples in the second inning, including an RBI triple by Devin Goodwin, and pushed two runs across in the frame. Another run was tacked on in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Reid Fronk, but the knockout blow came in the eighth. K.C. sent eight men to the plate and scored five times, including an RBI single by Jose Duran and a two-run single by second baseman Sean Henry. Those five runs gave the T-Bones an 8-0 lead, and relief pitchers Lucas Irvine and Sean Toler shut down the AirHogs from there.

Anderson (1-1) earned the win as he went six innings of shutout baseball, giving up only four hits, all singles, while striking out five.

The win pushed the T-Bones to 3-5 on the season. Game two of the three-game series is slated for 7:05 at QuikTrip Park on Friday night.
