Syracuse Signs Right Wing Alexandre Tremblay

Syracuse, NY (March 27, 2003) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they signed right wing Alexandre Tremblay to an amateur try-out contract.

Tremblay, 24, leads the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) in scoring this season with 56 points (32g, 24a) in 21 games as a member of the University of Quebec Trois-Rivieres (UQTR), en route to being named the leagues MVP. In 69 career CIS games, Tremblay recorded 88 goals, 67 assists and 102 penalty minutes. Prior to joining the UQTR, Tremblay, appeared in 264 career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) games with Laval, Shawinigan and Rimouski, recording 137 goals, 141 assists and 335 penalty minutes. He was a member of Rimouski's 2000 Memorial Cup championship team.

In his rookie year at the UQTR in 2000-01, Tremblay was named the CIS Rookie of the Year, setting a UQTR rookie scoring record with 29 goals and 24 assists. He was CIS National Championships in both 2000-01 and 2002-03 with UQTR. A native of Beauport, Quebec, Tremblay is expected to make his Syracuse debut when the Crunch host Hamilton on Friday night (March 28).

Syracuse returns to the War Memorial at Oncenter on Friday, March 28 to host the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 7:30 p.m. face-off. Friday night is Animal Planet Night, courtesy of Time Warner Cable and Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
