Mason Recalled by Panthers

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League today announced that the Florida Panthers have recalled goaltender Chris Mason.

Mason, 26, earns his first call-up to the parent club Panthers this season. In 45 games with San Antonio he has posted a 23-16-5 record and ranks fourth among AHL active netminders with a 2.35 goals against average, while placing third with a .927 save percentage. Mason has started for the Rampage in 12 of their last 13 games, putting together a 7-5-0 mark with a 2.77 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.

For his career, the Red Deer, Alberta, native has played in four career National Hockey League contests all with the Nashville Predators, going 0-1-1 with a 3.75 goals against average. Mason was signed by Florida as a free agent on August 22, 2002. He will join the Panthers in St. Louis for their game against the Blues this evening.

San Antonio returns to action when they host division rivals, the Milwaukee Admirals, on Friday, March 28, at 7:00 p.m. The Rampage (34-26-10-4) currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference standings with six games remaining.
