
Wolves Sign Evanston Native to ATO

The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman EVAN NIELSEN to an amateur tryout contract.
The Evanston, Ill., native wrapped up his collegiate career this season, posting career-highs with 18 assists and 21 points in 39 games with the University of Notre Dame. The 21-year-old blueliner, who served as team captain during his junior and senior campaigns, ranked third on the team in assists and shared seventh on the club in points this season.
Overall, Nielsen, who missed just three games in four years at Notre Dame, registered 16 goals; 51 assists; 67 points and 193 penalty minutes in 163 career games.
Nielsen was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers with their 11th pick (242nd overall) in the 2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
