LAST TIME OUT: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders lost 10-9 to the Durham Bulls at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday evening. After the RailRiders rallied from four down to take the lead in the top of the ninth, Austin Meadows second two-run home run of the night gave the Bulls their second straight walk-off win this series.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre opened the scoring three batters into the game. Ryan McBroom singled in Mark Payton for the 1-0 early edge. Durham took a 4-1 lead in the third on two home runs and a run-scoring double. Meadows hit a two-run home run own the right-field line off Adams for a 2-1 Bulls lead. With two outs, Refsnyder hit solo home run and Jason Coats two-base hit drove in Nick Cuiffo for the three-run edge. The Bulls added three runs against Adams in the fifth inning on four hits to build a 7-3 lead.

The RailRiders cut one run off the lead in the sixth when Mike Ford doubled and scored on a single by Giovanny Urshela. Durham got the run back in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI triple by Micah Johnson.

In the bottom of the ninth, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre loaded the bases with two outs. Andrew Kittredge, the third pitcher of the inning, allowed a two-run single to Abiatal Avelino to cut the lead to 8-6. McBroom launched an 0-1 pitch to deep left-center, plating Payton and Avelino for a 9-8 lead. In the bottom of the ninth with the tying run at third, Meadows lined an 0-2 fastball from Cale Coshow over the right field wall for the win.

NOT ANY EASIER TOMORROW: Starting Monday night at PNC Field, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre begins a seven-game homestand against Indianapolis and Norfolk. The Indians hold down first place in the I.L. West with a three-game lead over Columbus. Norfolk and Columbus are tied for the Wild Card lead with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre positioned one game back. Following the homestand, the RailRiders finish the 2018 regular season against I.L. North teams- Buffalo (three games), Lehigh Valley (four), Syracuse (three) and Pawtucket (four, but split home and away).

BUSINESS IS MCBOOMING: Ryan McBroom is 4-9 in this series with two home runs and five runs batted in. The first baseman/ outfielder is riding an eight-game hitting streak since August 4, batting .428 (14-for-32); his third eight-game hitting streak of the season. During this road trip, McBroom has a .524 average (11-for-21) with three different three-hit games.

PLAYING FOR THE SPLIT: After winning the Norfolk series 2-1 to open the road trip, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre needs a win today to avoid a sweep at Durham and to split this six-game road swing. The RailRiders have not been swept in a series since May 18-20 at Buffalo.

ADAMS RETURNS: Chance Adams was optioned by the Yankees on August 9 and has reported to the RailRiders roster. After 87 games in the Minors over three years, Adams made his Major League debut last Saturday for New York in Boston. The right-hander allowed home runs to Mitch Moreland and J.D. Martinez, struck out two and walked one in the loss.

DOWN AND OUT: To clear room for Chance Adams on the RailRiders roster, New York transferred reliever Brady Lail to Trenton. Lail has appeared in 21 games for SWB this season, but was sent to the Thunder on June 29 and had only made one appearance since returning to the roster on July 30.

WALKING-OFF MAD: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is 4-6 in extra inning games this season, including walk-off losses at Charlotte on April 13, Louisville on May 31, Columbus on July 21 and at Rochester on July 30.

SERIES STUFF: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre had lost two straight series before taking two of three at Norfolk.
