Swamp Rabbits Open Trip with Two Big Points

December 29, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Glens Falls, NY - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (15-12-4), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, kicked off a four-game road trip on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory against the Adirondack Thunder (17-7-2) at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Richard Nejezchleb broke a 1-1 deadlock with the game-winning goal at 6:39 of the third period, while Allen York (1-4-1) made 33 saves in another impressive performance. With the victory, the Swamp Rabbits have earned at least one point in five consecutive games (4-0-1) and seven of their last eight overall.

Adirondack's Ryan Constant opened the scoring at 10:42 of the first period with a power-play goal for his second tally of the season. With Bretton Cameron in the box for kneeing, Patch Alber sent a rink-wide feed from the left point to the right side, where Constant unleashed a one-timer that clipped the left post and beat York blocker side.

Less than four minutes later, the Swamp Rabbits took advantage of a 5-on-3 attack to even the game courtesy of Darian Dziurzynski. With Luke Curadi and Patch Alber in the box, Ryan Rashid slipped a pass to Nejezchleb in the right circle, where the rookie pushed a centering feed to Dziurzynski for a one-time redirection at the left post. The puck slid past goaltender Drew Fielding for Dziurzynski's fifth goal of the season at the 14:01 mark.

Following a scoreless middle frame, Nejezchleb netted the game-winner with his fourth goal of the season in the third period. Jordan Knackstedt created the attack on the left wing when he entered the zone and guided a pass to the slot, where Nejezchleb reached out and poked home his second goal in the last three games.

With just over one minute remaining, Adirondack head coach Cail MacLain opted to pull Fielding for the extra attacker but was unsuccessful. Instead, Bretton Cameron capped the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:55 of the third period.

Greenville finished the game 1-for-7 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. Fielding (4-1-0) suffered his first professional loss with 18 saves, while the Thunder outshot the Swamp Rabbits 34-21.

It was just Adirondack's fourth loss at home this season and third setback outside of its division.
