Atlanta Gladiators News Release
After a scoreless first period, Justin Buzzeo gave the Atlanta Gladiators a 1-0 advantage 11:44 into the second frame during their fourth powerplay of the game. A string of passes around the point by Max Everson and Tyler Shiplo opened up the Ontario native who wristed the puck from just beyond the top of the crease past the Norfolk goaltender Nic Riopel. Shiplo picked up his fifth helper of the season while Everson notched his seventh assist and 14th point on Buzzeo's fourth goal of year.
Brad Navin capitalized on a breakaway opportunity created by a long pass from Matt Register up the middle of the ice to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Gladiators. The two-goal lead came at the 12:35 mark of the third period and gave Navin his third goal of the year. Register registered his 11th assist and 18th point on the insurance tally for Atlanta.
The Gladiators took a three goal lead with 6:26 left in the game on a Garry Nunn snap shot after a give-and-go play with Thomas Frazee. Nunn notched his fourth goal of the year while Frazee and Brock Higgs added to their season assist totals. The Gladiators would add an empty-net goal with 29 seconds remaining from Higgs, his second point of the night, to seal the 4-0 victory against the Admirals.
Matt Ginn stopped all 35 shots he saw and recorded his first shutout as a Gladiator and the second of his young career. The Lindsay, Ontario native made 35 saves on the night and recorded his first career assist on Atlanta's empty-net goal. Ginn improved his record to 5-5-0-1 with the victory.
