Nashville, TN - Wil Myers hit another home run and drove in a pair of runs as Omaha knocked off Nashville, 4-2, Thursday night in the opener of a four-game set at Greer Stadium. The Storm Chasers extended their season-best winning streak to nine games, improved their record to 43-25 and lengthened their lead to 14 games over Iowa in the American Conference North Division.

The Storm Chasers looked like they were poised for another big offensive evening as Irving Falu led off the game by reaching on a fielding error by Nashville starter Seth McClung, before advancing to third on a Johnny Giavotella double and scoring on a Myers ground out, as he crossed the plate in the first inning for the third time in four games on the current road trip.

The visitors added on in the second inning as Derrick Robinson singled home Max Ramirez, moved to third on a Falu double and scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0. Nashville got a run back in the home half on a Corey Patterson sacrifice fly that plated Sean Halton, who had drawn a lead off walk.

Andy Gonzalez belted a solo home run, the 11th long ball allowed by Storm Chasers starter Ryan Verdugo, in the sixth to trim the margin to 3-2. The Omaha left-hander finished off the inning without any further damage and earned his fifth win after yielding a pair of runs on five hits while walking four and fanning four.

McClung settled down and kept the Chasers off the board until Myers belted an opposite field homer in the seventh, his 10th at the Triple-A level and 23rd of the season, that restored a two-run cushion. The veteran right-hander suffered the loss after allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits while walking four and recording one strikeout.

Brandon Sisk took over for Verdugo and worked around a hit and two walks over two shutout frames before giving way to Louis Coleman, who had rejoined the team earlier in the day after being sent down from Kansas City. The side-winding right-hander worked a scoreless ninth inning to register his second save.

The series continues Friday night with Omaha left-hander Everett Teaford taking the mound against Nashville right-hander Mark Rogers. Coverage of the game gets underway at 6:45 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone Two, The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
