Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers have announced that a fund-raising effort for the American Red Cross International Response Fund has totaled $3,552,91. The funds will be donated through Center Ice Charities, the charitable giving arm of the Greenville Grrrowl and BI-LO Center.

"We are never surprised by the tremendous support of our fans and supporters," stated Grrrowl GM Byron K. Rucker. "When we asked for a commitment for this cause, our folks jumped in with a great deal of enthusiasm and their efforts will make a difference. The combination of fans, sponsors and players has turned out to be a strong team that understands our responsibility to the community, whether in the upstate or around the world."

During the latest five-game home stand, fans were asked to make donations to support the American Red Cross efforts to provide much needed supplies and care for the victims of the Tsunami in Southeast Asia. Donations were received from many individual fans, as well as from several groups associated with the organization. The Grrrowl Booster Club, Grrrowlfan.net, Chuck-A-Puck proceeds, and the players as a group, all gave funds that totaled $3,552.91. A special check presentation will be made prior to the January 21st home game when the Grrrowl host the Charlotte Checkers (7:05pm).

TRANSACTION: The Grrrowl have lifted the suspension of JON MIRASTY (F) and released his rights. Mirasty played one game with the Grrrowl after being traded from the Bakersfield Condors earlier this season.

The Grrrowl begin a three-game road trip on Friday night (1/14) in Charlotte, and will continue with a game at Pee Dee on Saturday (1/15), and Columbia on January 18th. Mini-plans and flex packs are available now by contacting the Grrrowl office. Please call 467-4777 for additional ticket information. All games are broadcast through TEAMLINE on www.grrrowl.com.
