
Everblades' O'Connell Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Plus Performer of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Florida defenseman Tim O'Connell is the Reebok
Hockey ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for December, leading the ECHL
with a plus-minus rating of +13.
The 6-4 and 210-pound O'Connell was a +2 or above in six of Florida's 13
games in December, including a +4 in Florida's 5-1 win over Pee Dee on
December 4. He finished the month leading Everblades defensemen in scoring
with seven points (1g-6a).
The 27-year-old O'Connell ranks second on the Everblades and is tied for
16th among league defensemen with 15 points (2g-13a) in 35 games. He is
tied for third on the team in plus-minus rating (+11) and tied for fifth in
assists (13).
In 2003-04, O'Connell had four points (2g-2a) in 20 regular season games
and seven points (1g-6a) in 14 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Florida and 22
points (8g-14a) in 39 regular season games with Roanoke of the ECHL. He
also played in the American Hockey League with Norfolk, scoring five points
(1g-4a) in 12 games.
Since beginning his professional career in 2001-02, O'Connell has 133
points (37g-96) in 314 regular season games and 13 points (4g-9a) in 34
playoff games. He has 70 points (19g-51a) in 143 regular season ECHL games
and seven points (1g-6a) in 17 postseason ECHL games and 11 points (3g-8a)
in 57 regular season AHL games while also playing in four AHL playoff
games. The native of Grand Forks, N.D. played four years at the University
of North Dakota, scoring 17 points (1g-16a) in 115 games and winning a
National Championship in 1997 and 2000.
