Bakersfield Condors News Release
Atlantic City, NJ - The Bakersfield Condors scored four times in the third period to erase a one-goal deficit and took a 5-2 win over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies on Wednesday night at Historic Boardwalk Hall. The Condors finish their seven-game road trip with a 6-0-1 record.
Neither team could score during the first period, with Tyler MacKay stopping 14 first period shots in net for the Bullies and Yutaka Fukufuji turned aside 10 shots for the Condors. For the second straight game, Vlad Serov gave the Condors the 1-0 lead early in the second frame. But on the very next shift the Bullies tied the game. Paul Caponigri's 11th of the season made it 1-1 just 39 seconds after Serov scored. Later in the period, Fukufuji was knocked to the ice on an apparent goaltender interference, while Ian Walterson's blast from the left point got through cleanly to give Atlantic City the lead through 40 minutes.
The third stanza belonged to Bakersfield. Dennis Shiryaev tied the game on the power play just 1:25 into the period. Paul Rosebush regained the lead for Bakersfield in the middle of the frame during 4-on-4 hockey, redirecting a Todd Alexander shot home for the eventual game winner. Tony Lawrence padded the lead with his fourth of the year and Lars-Peder Nagel scored his third empty net goal in the last four games to make it 5-2.
The Condors handed Atlantic City just their second regulation loss at home of the season, while Fukufuji stopped 33 shots to move into a tie for third in the ECHL in wins with 13.
The Condors return home on Saturday, January 15th against Las Vegas for the final time the Wranglers come to town. That game is Nip & Puck Night, featuring a personal makeover giveaway, sponsored by Bright House Networks, The Big 96.5 and Shaanti Medispa.
