MONTGOMERY - The Jacksonville Suns beat the Montgomery Biscuits 9-3 Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium, recording 18 hits in the contest.

Every Jacksonville hitter recorded at least one hit in the game. Andy LaRoche, 3 for 5, drove in three runs while Justin Ruggiano went 4 for 5 in the contest.

Suns starter Joel Hanrahan was locked in against the Biscuits, retiring fourteen straight between the second and sixth innings. He did allow two runs in the second but ended the line after that. In his 6.2 innings, he allowed three hits and two walks while striking out six. Hanrahan improved to 9-7 with the win.

The Suns jumped out to an early lead when they scored four runs in the first inning. James Loney, Russell Martin, and Ruggiano each drove in runs in the frame. The runs would turn out to be all the Suns would need in the contest.

Brian Stokes struggled in the first two innings, allowing five runs, but settled down after and threw three scoreless innings. Stokes had set AA career highs in strikeouts in each of his last two starts, fanning eight and nine respectively, but his spree ended with just two strikeouts in his five innings of work. Stokes fell to 3-5 with the loss.

Chris Flinn relieved Stokes and did not fair well either, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out two in his three innings.

The Biscuits scored two in the second on a Gabriel Martinez double and a Luis Mateo groundout.

Shawn Riggans doubled in the ninth to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

Wednesday, the Biscuits and the Suns will match up in the third game of this four game set at 7:05 at Riverwalk Stadium. Biscuits right-hander Jeff Niemann (0-1, 3.38) will match up with Suns righty Eric Hull (7-5, 3.31).
