
Suns Shut out Lookouts 3-0 in Series Opener

JACKSONVILLE, FL - In front of the largest home crowd of the year, the Jacksonville Suns (8-7, 44-41) celebrated Independence Day with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts (6-10, 32-54) on Friday night from Bragan Field.

Chipper Smith (W, 3-3) earned the win as he held the Lookouts scoreless in his five innings of work, allowing five hits and four walks while striking out five Lookouts.
Blake Logan (H, 1) looked sharp in his Double-A debut, tossing two shutout innings of relief, allowing just one hit and one walk, while finishing with a strikeout.
Casey McCarthy (H, 1) allowed a lone hit in his scoreless inning of relief for the Suns on Friday night.
James Nygren (SV, 2) collected his second save as a Sun after working a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning.
Jacksonville opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning to open up a 2-0 lead. Austin Nola came home to score on J.T. Realmuto's triple, with the Suns getting their second run on a Wilfredo Gimenez RBI fielder's choice.
Friday night's scoring was capped off in the bottom of the third inning when Wilfredo Gimenez drove in J.T. Realmuto with a sacrifice fly to extend Jacksonville's to 3-0.
The Suns set a new high attendance mark for the 2014 season, as 9,246 fans descended upon Bragan Field to watch Friday night's 3-0 Suns win.
The Suns and Lookouts will be back at it on Saturday, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. ET. The Suns will send out right-hander Jay Rogers (3-2, 4.76) while the Lookouts will counter with a righty of their own in Matt Shelton (2-1, 3.65)
