
BayBears Take Series with Wednesday Win

JACKSON, TN - The Mobile BayBears (50-33) and Jackson Generals (35-48) split their contest Wednesday with the BayBears topping the Generals 6-1, completing Tuesday's game while Jackson shutout Mobile 3-0 in seven innings in Wednesday's originally scheduled match up.
With the score tied at 0-0 and RHP Archie Bradley on the mound for Mobile, play has been suspended with one out and a runner at first for the Generals, batting in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game resumed Wednesday at the point with the game reaming tied until the top of the fifth with Mobile took a 1-0 on a bases loaded dropped ball at short.
Mobile tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning with a two-run triple off the bat of Mark Thomas and the BayBears extended their lead with a three-run home run for Dustin Martin in the top of the ninth. The homer was Martin's third in three straight games.
In the second game, Jackson snapped Mobile's five game win streak with a 3-0 shutout in the seven inning contest. RHP Mike Lee (5-4) surrendered the loss allowing just three runs on four hits, walking three and striking out six in 6.0 innings of work.
Thursday night, the BayBears and Generals conclude their five game series with first pitch in the finale scheduled for 7:05 PM.
The BayBears return to Mobile July 4 to open a five game set with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Hank Aaron Stadium. Fans are invited to stick around after Friday's game for a special Independence Day Fireworks show.
