HUNTSVILLE, ALA. - The Generals (4-12/35-50) fell for the ninth time in their last 11 games, and the fifth time in that stretch by one run, as the Huntsville Stars (8-8/54-32) win the opener of this five-game set 4-3 in Huntsville Friday. Jackson took an early lead, but the bullpen once again could not hold it as Huntsville scored two runs in the final four innings to improve their record against Jackson this season to 7-4.The game was played in front of a season-high 10,596 fans at Joe Davis Stadium.

Jackson began the scoring right away as the first four batters of the game singled. D.J. Peterson (2x4, RBI) brought home Leon Landry (2x4, 2 R) on his base hit with two-on and no outs, and Julio Morban (2x4, 2 RBI) followed with an RBI single that scored Ketel Marte (2x4, R) for the early 2-0 lead.

Huntsville tied the score quickly, as they used back-to-back-to-back two-out singles to plate a pair of runs of their own. Shea Vucinich delivered the big blow as his base hit scored Lucas May and Greg Hopkins to even the score 2-2 after two innings.

The Generals retook the lead a half inning later as Morban came up with his second RBI single of the game. His base hit scored Landry and the lead was again in Jackson's hands, 3-2.

The Stars led off the fifth with a pair of singles and the ninth double of the year from Josh Prince. Prince's hit scored Yadiel Rivera and the game was once again tied, 3-3.

Robinson Diaz came up with another two-out hit for Huntsville in the seventh, a double that brought home former Tennessee Vol Kentrail Davis and the Stars had their first lead of the game 4-3.

Tyler Olson (3-4, 4.22) had another good start for the Generals going five innings and allowing just three runs on eight hits, but was dealt a no-decision as Cam Hobson (4-7, 3.28) suffered the loss. In two innings of work, he allowed an unearned run that won the game. The last six losing pitchers for the Generals have all been out of the bullpen.

Greg Holle (1-1, 1.17) earned the win for Huntsville with 1.2 innings of scoreless work out of the bullpen and David Goforth saved his Southern League leading 17th game.

Landry, Marte, Morban and Peterson each had two hits on the night, but they were the only Generals to pick up hits as the bottom five in the order combined to go 0-for-17 with two walks and six of the seven Jackson strikeouts on the game.

The Generals and Stars will play game two of this five series Saturday at Joe Davis Stadium. Stephen Landazuri (3-2, 3.55) will head to the mound for Jackson as Huntsville will look to Jed Bradley (1-4, 4.80) to make the start on the bump.
