Mississippi Braves News Release

Montgomery, AL - Dylan Floro outdueled Jason Hursh on Friday night and the Montgomery Biscuits dropped the Mississippi Braves 3-0 before the Independence Day fireworks at Riverwalk Stadium.

Floro pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just seven hits and striking out three. It was the first nine-inning complete game shutout for the Biscuits since Victor Mateo no-hit Jacksonville in August of 2013.

The Biscuits (8-8; 43-43) scored twice in the third inning to take the lead. Catcher Jake DePew walked to lead off the frame but was forced out at second on a ground by Willie Argo. Ryan Brett doubled on a chopper that hopped over Seth Loman's head at first, putting men at second and third.

With Jake Hager at the plate, Hursh threw two wild pitches to score both runs for a Biscuits2-0 lead.

The Braves (10-6; 49-36) had baserunners in all but two innings, but only pushed one man into scoring position all game.

Montgomery grew their lead in the sixth, all with two outs. Taylor Motter walked and Cameron Seitzer took a pitch to the lower leg, setting up a Richie Shaffer RBI single with Seitzer thrown out at third to end the inning.

Hursh (6-6) suffered the loss, despite allowing just three runs, two earned, on four hits, striking out four and walking two. Jorge Reyes came on in relief and pitched a scoreless eighth.

The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Braves and was the shortest game of the season, checking in at two hours and seven minutes--just ten minutes longer than the shortest game in team history.

The Braves will try to even the series on Saturday night in game two of the five-game set, with right-hander Greg Ross (2-0, 1.23) slated to get the start against right-hander Albert Suarez, making his 2014 Biscuits debut. First pitch is slated for 6:35 PM CT from Riverwalk Stadium.

Listen live to Kyle Tait on the call beginning at 6:00 PM CT on 103.9 WYAB and online at MississippiBraves.com.
