Suns' Pitching Shuts Down Lakewood

Lakewood, NJ - The Hagerstown Suns (6-3) evened the four game series with the Lakewood Blue Claws (3-6) in a 5-1 win at First Energy Park in Lakewood on Friday Night.

Starting pitcher Kylin Turnbull pitched 5.2 effective innings in a no-decision, allowing one run on three hits, one walk and three strike outs. Taylor Hill (2-0) allowed an RBI double to the first batter he faced, but then retired the next 10 hitters in order to finish the game with his second win of the season.

Suns catcher Cole Leonida's first homer of the season, a solo shot in the seventh inning, put the Suns ahead 2-1 and proved to be the game winner. Centerfielder Billy Burns went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, while third baseman Matt Skole added to his league leading RBI total (13) with a two-run double in the eighth inning.

Blue Claws starter Ethan Stewart (0-0) did not factor in the decision, lasting six innings and giving up one run with seven strike outs. Colby Shreve was tabbed with the loss, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk over 1.2 innings pitched.

The Suns and Blue Claws will play game three of the series on Saturday evening at 4:05 p.m. when RHP Chris McKenzie (0-0) makes his second start of the season against the Blue Claws' Colin Kleven (0-1).
