Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Charleston Riverdogs Friday night, before 3,185 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Friday's victory was their first home victory this season. It was also the first win over Charleston in five tries.

The Braves struck first in the first inning on a Brandon Drury sacrifice fly, scoring Kyle Kubitza for the 1-0 score. After a quick top of the second, Rome would add to their lead in the bottom of the inning, as Kubuitza added an RBI single to increase their lead 2-0. In the third, Felix Marte hit a sacrifice fly, scoring William Beckwith to make it 3-0.

Charleston would cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth. After a lead-off walk to Dante Bichette, Jr. and a wild pitch moving him to second, Ben Gamel delivered an RBI single. The Braves added three more runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Beckwith and Marte's two run base hit increasing the lead to 6-1.

The Riverdogs would add single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, and Rome added three runs in the eighth for the final score of 9-4.A.J. Holland (1-1) earns his first victory of the season and Bryan Mitchell (0-1) gets the loss in his second appearance for the Riverdogs.
