Suns Fall Short to Barons 2-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (9-10) dropped the series finale to the Birmingham Barons (9-10) 2-1 Wednesday afternoon to conclude an historic 20-game homestand from Bragan Field.

Tyler Danish (W, 3-0) picked up his third win in his start for Birmingham tossing six innings surrendering one run (earned) on seven hits while walking a solo batter and striking out six. Suns starter Kendry Flores (L, 1-3) took the loss manufacturing 7 and 1/3 frames relinquishing two runs (both earned) on three hits while walking two and fanning a season-high eight batters. Barons reliever Raul Fernandez (S, 2) notched his second save of the year after striking out the side subsequent to a lead off walk.

The scoring began in fourth for Jacksonville when Ryan Rieger ripped a one-out double to settle into scoring position for Shariff Othman, who would then knock him home with a run-scoring base knock to give the Suns a 1-0 lead through four innings of play.

In the top of the seventh, the Barons took the lead on one swing of the bat by Jeremy Farrell (HR, 2), who lifted a two-run shot over the right field wall leaping the Barons to a 2-1 lead and the eventual victory.

The Suns begin a 10-game road trip starting a five-game set with the Chattanooga Lookouts Thursday night from AT&T Field with a first pitch slated in the series opener for 7:15 p.m. ET. The Suns will send out right-hander Austin Brice (0-2, 7.82 ERA) while the Lookouts will throw righty Alex Wimmers (0-0, 8.68 ERA).
