Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits dropped their third-straight one run game with a 4-3 loss to the Jackson Generals on Wednesday afternoon at Riverwalk.

The Biscuits have led in the last three games but lost them all including two games allowing multiple runs in the ninth inning.

With the Biscuit leading 3-2 in the ninth, the Generals started their comeback with a one-out single from Steve Baron. Leury Bonilla kept the game alive with a two-out, two-strike single into center to bring up D.J. Peterson. The Mariners' number-two prospect pulled a ground ball down the third baseline to drive in both runs and give the Generals a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the inning, the Biscuits got the tying run to third base with a Kes Carter triple, but could not score him. It was the second-straight night the Biscuits stranded the potential tying run on base.

Patrick Leonard and Richie Shaffer both homered for the Biscuits. Leonard hit a solo shot - his first in Double-A - in the second inning. Shaffer's was a two-run blast in the third inning to give the Biscuits a 3-0 lead.

Bradin Hagens went six strong innings and only allowed one run for the no-decision. The Biscuits have had eight quality starts in the last ten games.

The Biscuits will start a five-game road trip Thursday night at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi. The Biscuits will have reigning Southern League Pitcher of the Week, RH Jaime Schultz on the mound. The Braves will throw RH Jason Hursh.
