April 29, 2015 - Southern League (SL1)
Jackson Generals News Release

Montgomery, Ala. - It took 10 innings and close to four hours, but Jackson came out on top in a 7-6 win over Montgomery in 10 innings on Tuesday night. Jackson pounded out 13 hits, with four players recording two or more in the team's second win in a row over the Biscuits.

With the game tied 6-6 in the tenth inning, Zach Shank (3-for-5, 2 3B, 2 R) launched a triple off the top of the left-field wall. It was his second triple of the game. Two batters later, Jack Reinheimer (2-for-6, 2 RBI) came through with an RBI single to left field off of Colton Reavis (0-1, 8.22) to give the Generals a 7-6 edge.

Jordan Shipers (S, 1) pitched a scoreless inning to pick up the save. Montgomery put the tying run in scoring position and the winning run on first base, but Shipers struck out top Ray's prospect Daniel Robertson to finish off the victory.

Jackson (6-10) led 6-2 midway through the eighth after Shank scored in the top half of the inning on a balk following his first triple of the contest.

In the bottom of the inning, Grady Wood was taken out of the game with one on and one out in favor of Matt Anderson (1-0, 2.89). Anderson, who had not allowed a run coming into Tuesday, gave up a single and a walk to load the bases. With two outs, Montgomery catcher Jake DePew hit a grand slam that tied the game at six runs apiece. It was DePew's first home run of the year and just the fifth of his career.

The Generals broke a 2-2 tie with an impressive two-out rally in the seventh. With two down and nobody on, D.J. Peterson (2-for-4, 2B, 2 R) and Jordy Lara both walked. Gabriel Guerrero (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI, R) followed with a three-run inside-the-park home run on a line drive that bounced in front of and then over a diving Johnny Field, Jr. in centerfield. The Generals led 5-2 going into the seventh-inning stretch.

Montgomery (9-10) took an early lead with a run on three hits in the fourth off of Scott DeCecco, who came in to relieve Kyle Hunter with just one out in the first inning. DeCecco was otherwise solid, giving up three hits in 4.2 innings while striking out six.

Four Generals had multi-hit efforts in the victory, with Dario Pizzano (2-for-5, RBI) joining Reinheimer, Peterson and Shank. Pizzano extended his hitting streak to 10 games with his second-inning single. Over the stretch, Pizzano is hitting .414 (17-for-41). It was Jackson's first extra-innings win of 2015.

Jackson goes for its first series win on Wednesday in a morning affair at Riverwalk Stadium. Jake Zokan (0-0, --) is slated to make his first Double-A start for Jackson against Montgomery right-hander Bradin Hagens (1-1, 1.65).
