DePew Slam Not Enough, Biscuits Fall in Ten

Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - For the second consecutive night, the Montgomery Biscuits (9-10) were on the wrong side of a one-run game.

In a clash that labored along for just under four hours, the Jackson Generals (6-10) won their second straight game at Riverwalk Stadium, beating the Biscuits 7-6 in ten innings.

The Biscuits got off to a decent start in the fourth, with Cameron Seitzer singling in a run to make it 1-0 in the bottom half. Biscuits starter Reinaldo Lopez had a shutout going until the fifth when the Generals tied the game on a fielder's choice. Lopez went five innings allowing eight hits and two runs, figuring in another no decision before turning things over to the bullpen.

Although the game continued to crawl along, it wasn't without some fireworks. The seventh inning saw Generals outfielder step to the plate in a 2-2 game and sock a rare inside-the-park three-run homer that silenced the Riverwalk faithful. Jackson added one more run in the eighth to make it 6-2.

It looked like the Biscuits were cooked until the bottom half of the eighth saw backup catcher Jake DePew launch a game-tying grand slam on a 2-2 pitch with two out.

The Biscuits could not muster another run, however, as Jackson's Jake Reinheimer drove in the game-winning RBI single in the top half of the tenth, that ensured that Wednesday morning's matchup would be a rubber game.

The Biscuits will try to win the series at 10:35 AM Wednesday as Bradin Hagens (1-1) takes on Jake Zohan (0-0).
