Jackson Generals News Release

Montgomery, Ala. - D.J. Peterson smacked a two-run double in the top of the ninth to give Jackson its first lead of the game in a 4-3 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits in front of 5,553 at Riverwalk Stadium on Wednesday. It was Jackson's third-straight win, and the Generals trailed at one point in all three games.

Jackson (7-10) was down to its final strike in the ninth, trailing 3-2 with Steve Baron (2-for-4, 2 R) on first base. Leury Bonilla (2-for-4, R) bounced a 1-2 pitch into centerfield for a base hit, keeping the Generals alive. With two on and two outs, D.J. Peterson (2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI) laced a double down the left-field line off of Mikey O'Brien (1-2, 5.54) to give the Generals a 4-3 edge.

Tony Zych (S, 2) had to walk the tightrope in the bottom of the inning, but kept Montgomery (9-11) off the board to pick up his second save in three games. Kes Carter tripled with one out to put the tying run on third base. Two batters later, Zych hit Daniel Robertson with a pitch to put the winning run aboard as well. He would go on to secure the win by inducing a Richie Shaffer groundout.

The win is Jackson's third in a row, giving the team it's longest winning streak of the year. Six of the Generals' seven victories have come in the team's final at-bat.

Montgomery took an early three-run lead on Jackson's Jake Zokan, who made his Double-A debut in the game. Patrick Leonard got the scoring started the scoring with a line drive home run to left field in the second inning to give the Biscuits a 1-0 lead. In the third, Richie Shaffer smacked a two-run shot to left that put Montgomery up 3-0. It was Shaffer's fifth long ball of the year.

Jackson got on the board in the fourth inning with three consecutive singles in the fourth inning. Dario Pizzano extended his team-best hitting streak to 11 games with an opposite-field base hit to plate D.J. Peterson and make it 3-1. Pizzano is 18-for-45 (.400) with five RBIs since the streak began on April 16.

Zokan gave up three runs in 4.2 innings, but it was Trevor Miller (2-0, 5.27) who dazzled out of the bullpen for Jackson. The righty fanned a season-high seven hitters in 3.1 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits to keep the Biscuits at bay and pick up the victory.

Bradin Hagens provided Montgomery with the team's 12th quality start of the year, giving up just one run on six hits over six innings. Jackson's comeback would come against O'Brien, who entered in relief after Hagens was removed. In the seventh, Richie Shaffer couldn't handle a ground ball from D.J. Peterson and Steve Baron scored to pull the Generals within a run.

The three-run deficit was the largest that the Generals have overcome in 2015. Jackson has come from behind in six of their seven wins this year, including all three victories in Montgomery.
