Suns Earn Series Victory with 3-2 Monday Win

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Suns (10-8, 46-42) earned a series win by taking down the Chattanooga Lookouts (7-12, 33-56) 3-2 in come-from-behind fashion on Monday afternoon from Bragan Field.

Justin Nicolino (W, 8-2) won his eighth straight decision by allowing two runs (both earned) on three hits in five innings of work, while not walking a batter and striking out one Lookout.

Matt Montgomery (H, 1) only gave up one hit in two rock solid scoreless innings of relief, striking out a pair of Lookouts in Monday afternoon's outing.

Greg Nappo (H, 6) held the Lookouts off the scoreboard after tossing a scoreless 1-2-3 top of the eighth inning.

Nick Wittgren (SV, 11) earned the save by facing the minimum three batters in the ninth inning, including inducing a game-ending 6-3 double play.

Andres Santiago (L, 2-5), by surrendering three unearned runs on four hits in 4.1 innings of work, while striking out four batters and issuing a season-high six walks.

Darnell Sweeney got the scoring going with a two-out RBI single in the top of the third, scoring J.C. Boscan from second to give Chattanooga a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Scott Schebler (HR, 17) led off the inning with a solo homer to right on the first pitch he saw, doubling Chattanooga's lead to 2-0.

Jacksonville cut the lead in half when Ryan Rieger came in to score on a fielding error by Angel Sanchez on a ball put in play by Austin Barnes to make it a 2-1 advantage in favor of the Lookouts after four innings.

The Suns tied the game and then took the lead after plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan Rieger tied the game at 2-2 on a sacrifice fly and the Suns then took the lead as the next batter Isaac Galloway drove in Terrence Dayleg with a two-out RBI triple to put the Suns on top for good at 3-2.

The Suns and Lookouts will be back at it on Tuesday, with first pitch of the series finale set for 7:05 p.m. ET. The Suns will send out right-hander Jose Urena (6-6, 4.16) while the Lookouts will counter with right-hander Raydel Sanchez (1-5, 6.06).
