Kubitza Named Player of the Week

PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves third baseman Kyle Kubitza was named Southern League Player of the Week for the week of June 30-July 6. In six games during the week, Kubitza posted a .435 batting average with two doubles, two triples and six RBI. He also had a .696 slugging percentage.

The Texas native strung together a 12-game hitting streak June 13-27, hitting .400 during that period. Kubitza currently ranks fourth among Southern League Leaders with a .315 batting average for the year. His .408 on-base percentage ranks second while his seven triples rank tied for third-most in the league.

Kubitza leads the M-Braves club in games played (81) and stolen bases (16). He also leads in runs scored (48), hits (86), doubles (21), triples (7) and walks (42). Kubitza entered the 2014 season ranked by Baseball America as the Braves 22nd-best prospect and the "Best Infield Arm" in the Atlanta farm system. He was originally selected by the Braves in the third round of the 2011 draft out of Texas State.
