Suter Pitches Stars to Victory

Huntsville, AL-The Huntsville Stars got early offense and a quality start from starter Brent Suter(8-6) leading them to a 6-2 win Monday night over the Jackson Generals at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville.

The Stars took a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Jackson LHP Tyler Pike(1-1). Nick Ramirez and Joey Paciorek provided back to back fielder's choice rbi's giving the Stars the early lead.

Jackson tied the game against Suter in the top of the second inning. John Hicks hit a two-run homerun to left knotting the game at 2-2. It was Hicks's third homer of the season.

The Stars took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. With two on base and out, D'Vontrey Richardson cleared the bases with a two-run double scoring Ramirez and Paciorek giving the Stars a 4-2 lead.

Brandon Macias, who made his Double-A debut for the Stars followed Richardson's run producing hit with an rbi single into left making it 5-2 Stars.

Greg Hopkins launched a solo homerun to left field to lead off the Stars sixth inning. It was Hopkins's sixth homer of the season and it put the Stars ahead 6-2.

Suter, who turned in his eighth quality start of the season worked six innings. He allowed seven hits on two runs.

Suter, earned his first win as a starter since his victory May 18th against Birmingham.

Greg Holle and Tim Dillard combined for three scoreless innings out of the Stars bullpen to preserve the win.

The Stars(9-10, 55-34) evened their series with the Generals(6-13,37-51) at two games apiece forcing a rubber match Tuesday at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville. The Stars will have RHP Andy Moye(4-1, 3.96) on the mound. Jackson will send RHP Matt Anderson(3-3, 4.37) to the hill.
