Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
State College, Pa. - Bryson Stott hit his second home run as a Crosscutter and his third as a pro but it wasn't enough as the State College Spikes rallied for a 5-2 win with a three-run tie-breaking rally in the eighth inning. State College evened the series at one-game apiece with the rubber match slated for Monday at 7:05 p.m.
Stott turned on a 1-2 pitch in the sixth inning by Scott Politz and lifted it over the 18.5 foot wall in right at Medlar Field. Stott also had a single in the first inning to go 2-for-4. Both of Stott's homers with Williamsport have come in Sunday road games including last week at Aberden, Md. in his first at bat with the Cutters.
Catcher Logan O'Hoppe continued his torrid hitting pace with a 3-for-4 game that included a double and a triple. The 19-year-old catcher from Long Island, N.Y. has knocked out ten extra-base hits in the last nine games including four doubles, two triples and three home runs.
Erik Miller (Round 4, Stanford) pitched three strong shutout innings of relief with five strikeouts. Starter Adam Leverett (Round 15, Gordon State) allowed two runs in four innings including a solo home run for State College's Terry Fuller (2nd).
Dariel Gomez brought home the winning run on his single to left in the eighth off Adam Cox (1-2). Two more runs followed on a bases loaded walk and a wild pitch.
The Crosscutters conclude their three-game series at State College on Monday at 7:05 p.m. with RHP Carlos Francisco slated to start.
