April 17, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Tri-City Storm News Release

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm seeks a bounce-back victory tonight on home ice against the Des Moines Buccaneers following last night's 4-3 loss. Last night's loss ended Tri-City's season-high eight-game winning streak. Following this afternoon's announcement from the United States Hockey League (USHL) to determine playoff eligibility based on points percentage rather than total points, Tri-City retroactively clinched a spot in the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs last weekend following a two-game sweep of the Lincoln Stars. Tickets are still available for tonight's home game against the Des Moines Buccaneers and can be purchased by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144 or by visiting www.StormHockey.com. Puck drop for tonight's game is scheduled for 7:05 pm.

Tri-City (30-14-2-1) dropped a game at home for only the sixth time in regulation this season in last night's 4-3 loss to the Des Moines Buccaneers. Victor Czerneckianair, Conner Hutchison, and Isac Jonsson scored Tri-City's goals in the loss. The Storm dropped to 21-4-0-0 when leading after the 1st period and 0-9-0-0 when trailing after the 2nd period this season after last night's result. Tri-City now holds a 12-12-1-1 record against Des Moines in head-to-head matchups over the past five seasons. Scoring leaders for the Storm entering tonight's game include; Carter Mazur (20), Hunter Strand (19), Ben Schoen (15), Cole McWard (14), Matthew Knies (13), Rhett Pitlick (13), Cole O'Hara (11), Mark Estapa (10), and Adam Klapka (10). Following tonight's home game against Des Moines, Tri-City will host the Buccaneers tomorrow at the Viaero Center at 4:05 pm before entering the final week of the regular season. Season tickets are now on sale for the 2021-2022 season. For more information on securing season tickets for next year, contact a member of the Storm sales staff at 308-338-8144 or visit www.StormHockey.com/SeasonTickets.

Des Moines (24-19-4-0) stopped a four-game losing skid in last night's road win over the Storm. Alex Laferriere (2), Killian Kiecker-Olson, and Zach Urdahl scored goals for Des Moines in last night's game. Remington Keopple recorded the victory in net after making thirty saves on Tri-City's thirty-three shots on goal. Des Moines currently holds a points percentage of 0.533 and trails 4th place Sioux City (0.570) for the final playoff spot in the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. A win tonight over Tri-City would give Des Moines a victory in the season series against the Storm. Tri-City has clinched a season series victory over every opponent it has faced this season except for the Des Moines Buccaneers. Des Moines holds a 4-6-0-0 record over the past ten games. Last year, the Buccaneers won one game against the Storm in the four-game season series.

Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. For tickets to Storm home games at the Viaero Center, call 308-338-8144 or visit www.StormHockey.com #StormAhead
