USHL Updates Status of Conference Standings, Anderson Cup Race Ahead of Playoffs

Published on April 17, 2021 under United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release

CHICAGO, ILL - Prior to the 2020-21 USHL season, the USHL Board of Directors approved a 54-game regular season schedule using a flexible scheduling model to account for impacts due to COVID-19. The league is on track to complete 98 percent of scheduled regular season games.

"We're proud of the effort all our Member Clubs have put forth this season in completing the overwhelming majority of the regular season games," said USHL President and Commissioner Tom Garrity. "In a season with so much uncertainty, our main goal was giving our players an opportunity to develop their skill set and continue playing. Our teams worked hard to keep everyone safe and did a phenomenal job working together to make up games throughout the season."

As the USHL approaches the end of the 2020-21 regular season on Saturday, April 24, the league announced, in the interest of player safety, any game that was initially declared a No Contest that has not been rescheduled to this point, will not be made up prior to the conclusion of the regular season.

Because not all teams will complete the full 54-game schedule, final conference standings will be determined based on point percentage (PCT) instead of total points.

Four teams from each conference will qualify for the 2020-21 Clark Cup Playoffs, which are scheduled to begin Friday, April 30 with a best-of-three Conference Semifinal series. In the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Steel, Muskegon Lumberjacks and Green Bay Gamblers have qualified while the Tri-City Storm and Fargo Force have qualified in the Western Conference.

The Anderson Cup, awarded to the regular season champion, is currently a three-team race between Chicago, Muskegon and Tri-City.
