Near the end of the second frame, Waterloo's offensive jets turned on.
In a span lasting just over three minutes, Garret Wait, Marshall Moise, and Ronnie Hein scored for the Hawks, extending the Waterloo edge to four goals. Wait started the scoring by stashing a right-post dribbler at the 12:30 mark of the second.
Collin Rutherford needed 3:50 after the Black Hawks barrage to get the Storm on the board, receiving a right-corner pass from Jake Wahlin and shooting a lifter over Morris.
