Storm Completes Phase I Draft, Foskey Highlights Selections

Kearney, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm has completed 2016 USHL Phase I Draft, selecting six forwards, two defensemen and one goalie.

With the 12th overall pick in the draft, the Storm selected defenseman Jace Foskey. A 6-foot, 178-lb. defenseman from Southlake, Texas, Foskey completed this season with Dallas Stars Elite 16U, scoring two goals and 11 points.

"I look forward to getting to know them better and working with them and help them reach their future goals."

With the Storm's next pick in the third round, Tri-City picked forward Wyllum Deveaux with the 44th overall selection. Deveaux stands 6-foot-1, 174 pounds and is from Sackville, Nova Scotia, Canada. In 2015-16 with Don Mills Flyers Minor Midget AAA, the dangerous talent struck for 27 goals and 68 points in 64 games.

Tri-City picked twice in the fifth round, taking defenseman Jack Lagerstrom with the 66th overall pick and Ryan Roth with the 76th overall selection.

Lagerstrom is from Edina, Minnesota, is 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and played for the historic Shattuck St. Mary's Prep School U16 last season, tallying seven goals and 24 points. Current Storm forward Dan Labosky is also from Edina.

Roth is a product of the St. Louis AAA Blues U16, scoring 12 goals and 19 points. Like Roth, current Storm defenseman Joey Matthews played for St. Louis AAA.

In the 7th round, 108th overall, the Storm selected center Matthew Falls. From the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Falls accumulated 11 goals, 29 points and 28 penalty minutes.

At 124th overall in the 8th round, Tri-City selected goalie Connor Hopkins from Belmont Hill Prep School.

Next up was Logan Cash in the 9th round, 140th overall. The 6-foot, 161-lb. forward is from Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia, Canada. Cash played with the Halfax Jr. Macs this season, ripping 11 goals and 20 assists.

With its final pick in the 10th round, the Storm picked forward Hunter Nofs, who competed with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 15U team, scoring 11 goals and 18 points.

Phase II of the USHL Draft continues tomorrow at 8 a.m. Stormhockey.com and the Storm's social media pages will detail Tri-City's selections in Phase II.
