Storm acquire Rychel and Ebert from Windsor The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that they have acquired Kerby Rychel and Nick Ebert from the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for forward Brody Milne, Guelph's 2nd round picks in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, Guelph's 4th round pick in 2015 and 15th round pick in 2017, Kitchener's 3rd round pick in 2016 and Windsor's 4th round pick in 2014.
"We are extremely excited about acquiring two outstanding veteran junior players," stated Guelph Storm Vice President and General Manager Mike Kelly. "With the depth of our current roster, a very strong 1997 draft class and seven extra picks that we had previously acquired, we were well positioned to strengthen an already very good hockey team."
"Windsor is acquiring perhaps the most improved player in the OHL in Brody Milne and also replenish their selection of draft picks. We would like to thank Brody and his family for their contribution to the Storm, as well as welcome Kerby and Nick and their respective families to Guelph," added Kelly
With the Spitfires since 2010-11, Rychel has accumulated 213 points, including 102 goals and 111 assists. Last June, Rychel was drafted in the first round, 19th overall, of the NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. This year in 27 games, the left winger led the Spitfires in goals (16), assists (23) and points with 39. On Monday, the Tecumseh, Ontario resident was one of only 25 players invited to Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp in Toronto. During his junior career, Rychel has won gold medals at the 2012 World U-17 Hockey Challenge (Team Ontario) and the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (Team Canada). The Blue Jackets' prospect also won a bronze medal at the 2012 World U-18 Championship.
Originally drafted by the Barrie Colts 21st overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, Rychel was traded by the Colts to the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors before he played a game in Barrie. After 30 games with the Majors, Rychel was dealt to his hometown Windsor Spitfires.
Selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Ebert is now in his 4th OHL season. The right-hand shooting defenceman came to the Spitfires along with Rychel from Mississauga. In his rookie season, the Livingston New Jersey native had 41 points and one year later finished with 39. The 19-year old led all Windsor defenceman in scoring the last two seasons. This year, Ebert is tied for the league lead in +/- a with +27 rating and is tied for 9th in defence scoring with 20 points.
The two newest members of the Storm will join the club immediately and will make their debut on Friday night at the Sleeman Centre versus the Owen Sound Attack at 7:30 pm. Friday's game will also be the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss game.

Storm raise $2,465 in support of Movember
For the past month members of the Storm have been sporting an extra bit of facial hair in support of Movember.
Thanks to all of your donations, the Storm finished 2nd among all OHL teams raising $2,465. Storm defenceman Zac Leslie was the top Storm player raising close to $800. Overall, the Canadian Hockey league raised an astonishing $142,735.
The CHL invited all member clubs to participate in this event. Players were registered with their clubs under the CHL platform on movember.com and raised sponsorship dollars by growing and grooming their moustache and encouraging monetary donations through family, friends, fans, and local sponsors.
The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and men's health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada. Together the two channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
Thank you Storm fans for all of your support.
