Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (32-41) and Albuquerque Isotopes (42-34) saw the lead change hands four times in the series finale of the five-game set, but a two-run homer by Anthony Seratelli in the fifth inning gave Omaha a 7-6 lead that held up over the final four innings. In the 12 games between the Topes and the Chasers, 11 have been decided by three or less runs.

Number three Royals prospect Yordano Ventura collected his first career win at Werner Park on the night, but the young flamethrower was touched up for six runs on eight hits in his five innings of work. Ventura has allowed 13 runs in his first 19.2 Triple-A innings, while totaling 18 strikeouts. A third inning fastball by the 22-year-old from the Dominican Republic was clocked at 102 miles per hour, the fastest pitch recorded by a Storm Chasers pitcher in Werner Park history.

Seratelli provided the game-deciding blow in the fifth, but the 2-through-5 hitters for Omaha of Christian Colon, Johnny Giavotella, Xavier Nady and Seratelli were a combined 8-for-16 in the game with five of the six RBI and six of the seven runs scored. Seratelli has three homers in the month of June after totaling four homers in the first two months of the 2013 season.

After Ventura exited with five innings in the books, the duo of right-hander Louis Coleman and lefty Will Smith limited the Isotopes to only four total baserunners in the final four innings to lock up the series finale win. Smith notched his first career save with a scoreless ninth in his eighth career relief appearance, and fifth relief outing this season, and has not allowed a run in 9.2 innings of work out of the bullpen since moving out of the rotation earlier this month.

Despite the series finale win, the Storm Chasers lost a half game to the division-leading Iowa Cubs due to the I-80 rival sweeping a doubleheader on the day and sith 4.5 games out of first. Omaha next travels to Oklahoma City for a six games in four days series with the RedHawks that includes doubleheaders on June 23 and 25. In the series opener, left-hander Justin Marks (1-7, 6.29 ERA) will face off with fellow southpaw Brett Oberholtzer (4-6, 5.37 ERA) with coverage on 1180 Zone 2 The Duece and www.omahastormchasers.com getting underway at 6:45 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. game.
