June 21, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Padres News Release
Ike Davis went 3-for-5 with two home runs and a double Thursday, leading the Las Vegas 51s to a 7-5 victory over the Tucson Padres at Kino Stadium. The Padres left 13 runners on base in the loss.
The 51s took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Wilmer Flores' RBI single to right. The Padres responded in the bottom of the first when Dean Anna extended his hitting streak to eight games with a triple to left and later scored on Brandon Allen's two-out double. Las Vegas regained the lead in the top of the second on Brian Bixler's RBI infield single and added another run in the third on the first home run for Davis. Ben Francisco's pinch-hit, RBI double off the left-center field wall in the fourth cut Las Vegas' lead to 3-2. Anna brought home Francisco with an RBI single later in the inning to knot the score at three.
Tucson went ahead 4-3 in the sixth thanks to Brandon Allen's bases-loaded sacrifice fly to center. Gregorio Petit extended the lead to 5-3 in the seventh after scoring on a fielder's choice. Las Vegas rallied for three runs in the top of the eighth, highlighted by Brandon Hicks' two-run single to left. Davis provided the 51s with an insurance run in the ninth by hitting a solo home run over the right field wall.
Reliever Greg Peavey (4-2) was the winning pitcher, while Rob Carson pitched two scoreless frames to earn his first save of the year. Kevin Quackenbush (1-1) was charged with the loss after surrendering two hits, three runs and two walks in 0.1 innings. Tucson starter Brandon Kloess pitched four innings and allowed three runs on six hits.
