Storm Blasts Buccaneers in 6-1 Win

URBANDALE, IA. - The Tri-City Storm blasted the Des Moines Buccaneers Friday night at Buccaneer Arena in a 6-1 victory. Tri-City has won all three games against Des Moines this season and has outscored the Buccaneers by a margin of 18-3. Victor Czerneckianair (2), Cole O'Hara, Graham Gamache, Vinny Borgesi, and Mitchell Miller all netted goals in the game for the Storm. Tri-City returns to action on Saturday night in a road game against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Puck drop for Saturday's road game at Young Arena is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.

After a scoreless 1st period, Cole O'Hara scored his 13th goal of the season at 4:46 of the 2nd period to break a 0-0 tie. O'Hara's goal was scored even-strength and was assisted by Jeremy Wilmer and Ilya Nikolaev. Seconds later, at 5:06 of the 2nd period, Graham Gamache netted his fifth goal of the year to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead in the game. Gamache's goal was assisted by Drew Montgomery and Mitchell Miller. The first of three powerplay goals scored by the Storm in the game was netted at 10:16 of the 2nd period by Victor Czerneckianair. The goal was Czerneckianair's second of the season and was assisted by Vinny Borgesi and Andrew Strathmann. 16 seconds after Tri-City took a 3-0 lead in the game, Vinny Borgesi notched his second goal of the year to put the Storm ahead by four goals. Borgesi's goal was scored at 10:32 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Dane Dowiak and Kieran Cebrian. Tri-City outshot Des Moines 12-11 in the 1st period and 7-4 in the 2nd period.

The opening goal of Friday's 3rd period was scored by Des Moines' Scout Truman. Truman's goal was scored on a breakaway at 9:05 of the period and was the Buccaneers' only scoring play in the game. Victor Czerneckianair scored his second goal of the game and third goal of the year at 11:55 of the 3rd period to give Tri-City another four-goal lead in the game. Czerneckianair's goal was scored on the powerplay and was assisted by Vinny Borgesi and Mitchell Miller. The final goal of Friday's game was netted on the powerplay by Mitchell Miller. Miller's powerplay goal gave the Storm a 6-1 lead in the game and was assisted by Jeremy Wilmer. The goal scored by Miller at 15:19 of the 3rd period was his 11th of the season. Tri-City outshot Des Moines 8-4 in the 3rd period and 27-19 overall in the game.

Arsenii Sergeev turned away 18 of Des Moines' 19 shots on net to record his 17th victory of the year in goal for the Storm. Remington Keopple made 21 saves on 27 shots and recorded the loss in goal for Des Moines. Victor Czerneckianair was named the 1st Star of the Game with teammates Vinny Borgesi and Mitchell Miller collecting 2nd and 3rd Star honors, respectively.
