
Capitols Fall in Series Opener to Muskegon in 2022 Home Debut

The Madison Capitols fall in tonight's series opener, 10-6 to the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The season series moves to 3-2 in favor of the Capitols after tonight.
Defenseman Michael Quinn got the Caps out to an early 1-0 lead after he blasted home a slap shot from the point just 1:41 into the contest. After the opening 20 minutes and some questionable penalties against Madison, the Caps trailed 3-1.
Madison and Muskegon combined for nine goals in the middle frame which resulted in the Lumberjacks taking an 8-5 lead into the 2nd intermission.
The Caps had six different goal scorers tonight. Michael Quinn, forwards Matthew McGroarty, Tyler Haskins, Jake Dunlap and blueliners Ben Dexheimer and Luke Mittelstadt all lit the lamp tonight. Dexheimer, Dunlap, Haskins, Mittelstadt and McGroarty all recorded multi-point nights for the Caps this evening.
Power plays were heavily in favor of the Lumberjacks tonight, 8-3. The Capitols fourth-ranked power play went 2-for-3 on the man advantage tonight.
Madison and Muskegon will battle it out tomorrow night in the series finale. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m.
