ALLEN, TX --- Darrell Stoddard highlighted the Mississippi RiverKings' offense with a three-goal hat-trick for a four-point night, but the Allen Americans responded with a 5-4 victory in the Dallas suburbs on Friday, February 5th.

Stoddard's effort marked the RiverKings' fourth hat-trick of the season, including a four-goal performance earlier in the season by Louis Dumont, who scored the other goal for Mississippi in the contest Friday night.

Stoddard led the offense for the RiverKings in the first period of play, scoring both Mississippi goals.

He scored the first goal of the game, deflecting a shot from Kevin Truelson at 12:24 of the frame for a 1-0 RiverKings lead. The tally was Darrell's third of the season.

Stoddard also scored the final goal of the first period, netting his fourth of the year at 17:26. The power play goal was Stoddard's first extra man goal for the season, and came on assists from Ryan Held and Louis Dumont.

In between, Allen scored two goals in the space of 29 seconds from Nathan ONabigon and Bruce Graham to take a 2-1 lead on Graham's goal at 13:34.

Allen took a 3-2 lead nearly seven minutes into the middle period on Bruce Graham's second goal of the night and his 16th of the season.

But the RiverKings answered as Louis Dumont scored his 16th of the season at 9:47 on a feed from Stoddard and Andrew Lackner to tie the game at 3-3.

Allen kept the attack going and answered Dumont's goal just over a minute later at 10:50 on a tally from Nino Musitelli for a 4-3 lead in a period punctuated by three game misconducts and another misconduct call between the teams in the session.

The Americans got the eventual game-winning goal from Ryan Fairbarn, who scored his eleventh of the year with just 52 seconds gone in the final period.

But the RiverKings rallied later in the period, with Stoddard completing his three-goal hat-trick on a deflection with five and a half minutes remaining in the game to get Mississippi back within one at 5-4.

However, the Americans held off the RiverKings in the final minutes and came away with the victory.

Mississippi now has lost three straight games and is 22-18-4 for the season. Allen moved to 30-10-3 with the loss.

Mark Sibbald (5-2-0) took the loss in net for the RiverKings, despite making 33 saves. Chris Whitley moved to 22-7-2 with the victory with a 24-save effort.

The RiverKings went 2-for-12 on the power play, while Allen was 1-for-8.

Mississippi returns home to face the Wichita Thunder tomorrow night at 7:05 PM in the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. It will be Guns and Hoses Night, supporting area law enforcement and firefighters.

Southland Park Gaming and Racing will also be on hand along with Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option. Special jerseys will be worn, which will be auctioned off at the end of the game. There will also be a post-game skate for fans after the contest.
