West Valley City, Utah - The Stockton Thunder (30-21-4-5)defeated the Utah Grizzlies (29-24-4-2)5-1 Wednesday night at Maverik Center.

Stockton built a 2-0 second intermission lead with two power-play goals. Utah made it 2-1 1:48 into the third period as Ryley Grantham (2) shot a puck that initially was saved, but then went behind Stockton goaltender Bryan Pitton.

"We go out and we score a goal I know that they would like to have back and try to get a little momentum," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "Absence creates opportunities and we need some guys to get a little ticked off here if there in the lineup and we're not winning."

Stockton though came back after a Utah power-play with three goals in less than six minutes to build a 5-1 lead.

Tyler Sims stopped 39 of the first 41 shots that he saw before the Grizzlies struggled in their own end in the third period and allowed two before Shane Connely came in to relieve Sims.

Utah continues their series with Stockton Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
