Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue their push to the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs with a pair of games against the Elmira Jackals this weekend, Friday, March 11th and Saturday, March 12th at the First Arena in Elmira, NY. Six teams, including the Gladiators and Elmira, are within six points of each other in the race for the final four playoff spots in the ECHL ‚¬â„¢s Eastern Conference.

Here is a breakdown on where the Gladiators stand heading into this weekend ‚¬â„¢s games:

· The top teams in each other three divisions get the top three spots, but the remaining five are given to the teams with the highest point total.

· The Gladiators have 12 games remaining, with a max of 24 points still on the table.

· The most points Gwinnett could end up with would be 87.

· Eight of the Glads last 11 games are at home.

· Each of the Gladiators next six games come against a team they are competing with for a playoff spot. All but one of them (Cincinnati) are currently in the top eight.

· Only three points separate 8th place Gwinnett from 5th place Florida.

· Eight of Florida ‚¬â„¢s last 11 games are at home. The three on the road are against Gwinnett at the Arena at Gwinnett Center March 18-20.

· 6th place Wheeling has six more games at home, and six on the road. Four of those games come against the red-hot Kalamazoo Wings. The Nailers are 3-2 against the Wings.

· 7th place Elmira has 12 games left, seven on the road. They still play last place Trenton four more times, but are only 7-5 against them this season.

· Ten of 9th place Cincinnati ‚¬â„¢s last 13 games are on the road.

· 10th place Toledo has nine road games left and 14 total.

· No team in the East has been mathematically eliminated from the postseason, but 11th place Trenton can only earn up to 24 more points. That would give them 72 points, and a finish no higher than 3rd in the conference.
