Stingrays Weekly: Stingrays Swim North to Battle Royals, Devils

December 7, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release

The South Carolina Stingrays opened the month of December with a quick trip to The Arena at Gwinnett Center to battle the Gwinnett Gladiators before returning home to host the Greenville Road Warriors and Kalamazoo Wings for a week record of 1-2-0-0. On Friday, Stingrays Captain Matt Scherer scored two third-period goals and forward Justin Milo earned his first professional maker as the Stingrays sank the Gladiators 4-2. The Stingrays quickly returned to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday to celebrate their 12th Annual Teddy Bear Toss with Debi's Kids against the Road Warriors. Over 2,900 stuffed animals were collected to donate to charity, but Greenville skated away with the win, 2-0. Goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris earned his second shutout of the season stopping all 26 Stingrays shots. The Stingrays and Wings went head-to-head for only the third time in Rays history Monday night. Rays forward Rob Ricci and Scherer gave the home squad a 2-1 lead midway through the second period before Kalamazoo fought back to tie the contest, grab the lead and bury four goals in the third period to earn a 7-3 victory.
