
Stingrays Topple Cyclones on Military Appreciation Night

North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (35-24-4-3) defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones (30-25-2-7) 4-2 on Military Appreciation Night presented by Force Protection at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday night.
Stingrays defenseman Phil Oreskovic opened the scoring with his first goal of the season at 10:36 of the first period firing a shot from the right-wing point through traffic and past the blocker of Cyclones goaltender Brian Foster (L, 17 saves on 21 shots). Forwards Matt Scherer and Tyler Shelast earned assists.
Forward Josh Turnbull made it 2-0 at 7:58 of the middle frame from forward Trent Campbell and Oreskovic. At 15:11, defenseman Derek Keller gave the Stingrays a three-goal lead on the power play blasting a shot from the point under the stick of Foster. Forwards Billy Ryan and Campbell added assists.
The Cyclones jumped on the board at 4:22 of the third period on the power play when forward Michael Pelech beat Stingrays netminder Billy Sauer (W, 34 saves on 36 shots) between the legs. Forward Anthony Luciani grabbed the lone assist. The Stingrays made it 4-1 at 15:22 with Shelast's fourth marker of the season from forward Shea Walters . Cyclones forward Matt Carter completed the game scoring at 18:56 from forward Mathieu Aubin and Alain Goulet . The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-4 on the power play while the Cyclones went 1-for-6.
