STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced Edmonton has reassigned rookie goaltender Olivier Roy (WAH, Oh-LIV-ee-yay) to the Thunder from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.

Roy, 20, ranks third in the ECHL with a .927 save percentage, sixth with a 2.41 goals against average and has a record of 13-16-5 in 34 games this season. His fourth shutout - accomplished on Mar. 3 in a 4-0 win vs. Alaska - broke a Thunder single season record which is tied for second in the league.

Roy is 1-0-0 with Oklahoma City this season with a 2.34 goals against average and .937 save percentage in three appearances. He earned his first win of the season on Tuesday with an AHL career high 36 saves against Rockford.

The 6-foot and 180 pound goaltender was selected by Edmonton in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and has twice been named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week this season.

He was ranked as the second highest North American goaltender by the Central Scouting Bureau before the draft in 2009.

Roy was a member of Team Canada at the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championships and earned 14 shutouts, a record of 123-57-8, save percentage of .906, and goals-against-average of 2.77 in 200 career games with Cape Breton and Acadie-Bathurst of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Thunder returns to play tonight with a 7:30 p.m. home game against the Utah Grizzlies at Stockton Arena. The game will be carried on radio at 1280 AM KWSX and online for viewing (pay-per-view video charge) and listening (free of charge) at www.StocktonThunder.com, courtesy of AmericaOne.

The Thunder will sport special "St. Patrick's Day" jerseys for the game. The black jerseys, featuring classic "tie down" laces on the front with green accented bolts, will be auctioned off immediately following Saturday's game. Proceeds will benefit the Stockton Thunder foundation.
