Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers fell 3-1 to the Stockton Thunder tonight, ending a four-game winning streak.
Thunder goaltender Thomas Heemskerk and Wranglers goaltender Mitch O'Keefe held the game scoreless through two full periods. While being outshot 22-17 through 40 minutes of play, Las Vegas improved from five shots on goal in the first to 12 shots in the second.
Midway through the third, four goals in 3:55 minutes sealed the fate of the game. Thunder right wing Kevin Baker scored the first goal of the night after almost 49 minutes of play, and gave Stockton a 1-0 lead at 8:46. Two and a half minutes later, Wranglers left wing Adam Miller notched the first goal for Las Vegas to knot the game up 1-1. Stockton responded just 34 seconds later with a goal from center Gabriel Levesque, and a second goal from Baker seconds into a Wranglers penalty kill secured the 3-1 win for the Thunder at 12:41.
The Wranglers play the Bakersfield Condors in California tomorrow night before returning home to Orleans Arena to face the same team on Sunday. The team will wear a specialty St. Baldrick's Foundation jersey and half the team will shave their heads on the ice after the game to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer.
