Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Hardy Sauter announced Saturday afternoon that the AHL's Texas Stars have returned defenseman Matt Case to the Idaho Steelheads.

Case is expected to be in Idaho's lineup Saturday night when the Steelheads host the Ontario Reign (7 PM, KTIK 1350).

The 26-year-old defenseman out of Ferris State was loaned by Idaho to its American Hockey League affiliate on February 16. Case appeared in nine games for the Stars and did not register a point.

With Idaho this season, Case has skated in 41 games and collected nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) while anchoring the team's defensive corps. He was voted by ECHL fans as one of Idaho's ECHL/Mei Gray "Silver Skater Fantasy Team" players, along with fellow defenseman Chris Hepp, prior to his call up to Texas.

NOTE: Moments prior to Friday night's game, Idaho added rookie forward Fred Cassiani to the roster. Cassiani, a 24-year-old forward from Toronto, recently completed his college eligibility at Lake Superior State University, the same school that produced current Steelheads Chad Nehring, Tyson Hobbins, Matt Cowie, and Kory Scoran. Cassiani scored 30 goals in four seasons at LSSU, but did not register a point in his professional debut on Friday.

Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
