
Stingrays Receive Werner From Hershey; Stefanishion Returns

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
N. Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that right wingers Stephen Werner and Matt Stefanishion were loaned to the Stingrays from their American Hockey League Affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
Werner, 22, is in his first professional season. The Chevy Chase, MD native played four years of college hockey at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, where he recorded 116 points in 143 games. Werner, 6'1" and 210-pounds, was selected in the third round of the 2003 NHL Entry Level Draft by the Washington Capitals going 83rd overall.
Werner joined the Bears right before the Calder Cup Playoff run last year. He had three points in four regular season games with the team.
"Werner is a solid skater," noted head coach Jason Fitzsimmons. "And with him being in Hershey during the Calder Cup run, Werner brings to the Stingrays the experience of being on a championship team."
This season, Werner has played twelve games with the Bears. He has one point off one assist and 22 penalty minutes.
Stefanishion, 23, previously played six games with the Stingrays this season tallying six points off three goals and three assists. The Daysland, Alberta native returned to Hershey on Nov. 28th and played three games up there without recording a point.
The Stingrays travel to Columbia for their next game at 7:05 p.m. on Friday against at the Inferno at the Carolina Coliseum.
