
Stingrays Push Winning Streak to Eight Games in 4-1 Victory over Trenton

North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (17-6-1-3) beat the Trenton Devils (9-12-2-2) 4-1 Friday night in front of 3,998 at North Charleston Coliseum. Stingrays defenseman Dylan Yeo netted a pair of goals and the Stingrays pushed their winning streak to an ECHL-best eight games.
The Devils lit the lamp first when Tony Zancanaro knocked in his third of the season past Stingrays goaltender Todd Ford at 15:58 of the first period. Trenton forwards Matt Vokes and Kyle Kucharski received assists. After 20 minutes of play, the Devils outshot the Stingrays 12 to eight.
The Stingrays tied the contest midway through the second period with an unassisted tally from Trent Campbell at 9:38 beating Trenton goaltender Dave Caruso low blocker-side. The Stingrays grabbed a 2-1 lead at 18:21 thanks to Dylan Yeo's fourth of the season from Matt Fornataro and Gregg Johnson.
South Carolina continued the scoring into the third period as Yeo netted his second of the game at 7:10 from Jake Hauswirth and Rob Ricci. Stingrays defenseman Zach Tarkir made it 4-1 with a wrist shot from the left-wing point at 7:49 catching Caruso off guard. Ricci and Hauswirth recorded assists. Caruso finished the night making 27 saves on 31 Stingrays shots while Ford knocked aside 34 of 35 Devils chances. The Stingrays went 0-for-4 on the power play while Trenton finished the night 0-for-3 on the man advantage.
The Stingrays continue their three-in-three home weekend Saturday, December 12, against the Trenton Devils at 7:05 p.m. at North Charleston Coliseum.
