
Wranglers Stopped By Salmon Kings, 4-2

Victoria, BC - The Las Vegas Wranglers (9-13-1, 19 Points) were defeated by the Victoria Salmon Kings (7-13-3, 17 Points) 4-2 in front of 3,871 fans at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre Thursday night. Forward Chad Painchaud and defenseman Jimmy Sharrow each tallied a goal and an assist for Victoria who improve to 6-5-0 at home this season. Forwards Andy Brandt and Wes Goldie also scored for the Salmon Kings. Victoria goalie David Shantz made 26 saves to improve to 4-2-3 this year. Forwards Francis Lemieux and Ryan Weston scored for Las Vegas. Wranglers goalie Joel Gistedt stopped 30 of 34 shots in the loss. The Wranglers will take on the Salmon Kings Friday, December 11th, at 7:05 p.m. at the Save on Foods Memorial Centre.
The Wranglers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal from forward Francis Lemieux. Just 22 seconds in to play, forwards Adam Miller and Ryan Weston set up Lemieux's sixth goal on the season. Victoria answered back at 1:34, with a tally from left wing Chad Painchaud. Painchaud snapped in his seventh goal on the season while on the power play to tie the game at 1-1.
In the second period, Las Vegas regained the lead with a goal from Ryan Weston at 6:34. Defenseman Robbie Bina and winger Greg Collins assisted on Weston's fourth on the season for the 2-1 Wranglers lead. Victoria answered again at 12:49 of the middle frame with a goal from forward Andy Brant to tie the game at 2-2. The Salmon Kings would take a 3-2 lead with a goal from right wing Wes Goldie. At 14:50, Goldie tallied his eighth goal on the season for Victoria's first lead of the game.
In the third period, Victoria padded the lead at 10:37 with a power-play goal from defenseman Jimmy Sharrow. Painchaud and forward Dirk Sourthern set up Sharrow's third on the season to give the Salmon Kings a 4-2 lead.
