Sharks Reassign Sexsmith And K-Wings Loan Nie

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce San Jose has reassigned goaltender Tyson Sexsmith to Kalamazoo. The K-Wings have also loaned goaltender Ryan Nie to the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks.

Selected in the 3rd round (91st overall) the National Hockey League Draft, Sexsmith is in his first season as a professional. In eight games in Worcester, Sexsmith was 2-4-1 with a 4.00 goals-against-average.

Sexsmith played five season of junior hockey in the Western Hockey League, primarily with the Vancouver Giants. The native of Calgary, Alberta earned an incredible record 120-35-21 in the WHL with an astonishing 26 shutouts.

During the 2007-08 season, Sexsmith attended Team Canada's National Junior Championship Development Camp. With Vancouver in that same season he led the league in GAA, minutes played and shutouts.

Heading to Worcester, marks the second time this season Nie has headed to the AHL. Earlier this year, Nie was loaned to the Portland Pirates. Nie began the season competing in the training camps of the San Jose Sharks and Worcester Sharks.

Nie heading to the Sharks marks the 11th time this season a K-Wings player has been sent to the AHL.

The native of Nanticoke, Ontario ranks second in the ECHL with a 0.918 save percentage and fifth in the league with a 2.66 GAA.

The K-Wings return to the ice tonight at Wings Stadium with a 7:30 p.m. encounter versus the Toledo Walleye on B-93 Night featuring CMT's "Can You Duet" Season 2 Winners Steel Magnolia. Tonight's contest is also a Frugal Fan Friday, which features $1 beer and $1 hot dogs.
