
Stingrays Fall to Everblades 4-2

Estero, FL - The South Carolina Stingrays (35-27-4-3) received goals from forwards Matt Scherer and Michael Dorr, but the Florida Everblades (37-25-2-5) prevailed 4-2 Saturday night at Germain Arena in the final regular-season meeting between the two teams this season.
Stingrays forward Matt Scherer kicked off the scoring on the power plat at 10:45 of the first period tapping a pass from forward Shea Walters between the legs of Everblades goaltender John Muse (W, 28 saves on 30 shots). Defenseman Derek Keller earned the second assist.
The Everblades responded with four goals in the second period to take a 4-1 lead. Forward Trevor Bruess tied the game with an unassisted marker at 3:55 beating Stingrays netminder Billy Sauer (L, 29 goals on 33 shots) with a wrist shot under the blocker. Forward Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll put the Everblades on top with a power-play goal at 4:40 from defenseman Sebastien Piche and forward Matt Beca. Moments later, Lalonde-McNicoll lit the lamp for a two-goal lead from forwards Scott Pitt and Brandon MacLean. Piche found the twine for his third goal of the season at 13:28 from Lalonde-McNicoll and defenseman David Fischer.
Stingrays forward Michael Dorr scored his first professional goal on the power play to cut the lead in half at 7:34 of the third period from Keller and Walters. The Stingrays wrapped up the night 2-for-7 on the power play while the Everblades went 2-for-5.
The Stingrays continue a five-game road trip on Tuesday, March 27 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:35 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum for Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night on Saturday, March 31 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. Cast your vote for this season's Stingrays Hall of Fame inductee at StingraysHockey.com !
