The Elmira Jackals continue their four-game road trip tonight as they finish out their season series with the Toledo Walleye at 7:00 p.m. at the Huntington Center. Elmira defeated Toledo on Friday night, 3-1, behind a goal and an assist from Dustin Gazley and 24 saves from Brian Stewart. The Jackals are 2-0 against the Walleye in 2011-2012, also defeating Toledo at First Arena on Mar. 10, 5-1.
DIVISION TITLE IN SIGHT
With their victory over the Walleye and a regulation loss by Wheeling to Cincinnati on Friday, the Jackals reduced their magic number to clinch the Atlantic Division title to three points over the Nailers on Friday. Elmira can clinch the division championship tonight with a win over Toledo and any form of a Nailers loss to the Cyclones. The Jackals would also wrap up the title with an overtime or a shootout loss and a regulation loss by the Nailers. The division championship would be Elmira's second since joining the ECHL, as the Jackals won the American Conference's East Division title in the 2009-2010 campaign.
GAZLEY EXTENDS SCORING LEAD, STREAKS
Dustin Gazley's two-point outing on Friday extended his lead to two points over Las Vegas' Adam Miller for the ECHL's scoring lead. Gazley, who has 79 points (23g-56a), increased his point streak to eight games (3g-11a) and his road point streak to 16 contests (7g-20a). The rookie from Novi, Mich. has posted a goal or an assist in 29 of the last 31 games.
